Caregiver
Being a caregiver can be both difficult and stressful. On the one hand, you likely have a career, a family and a home to consider. On the other hand, you are trying to cope with an ageing or ailing parent. Granted there are a number of coping strategies available to you, but you may still become overwhelmed by the complexities of senior caregiving. How, for instance, do you distinguish between normal and abnormal signs of ageing, and what do you do if you suspect the latter? Or what kind of assistive devices will improve the quality of your parent’s (and your) life? Of course, all of these issues consume time, a precious commodity, and the one that we appear to lack most.
It is not surprising then that many adult children of ageing parents find it economical, practical and, most of all, reassuring to have a trusted person –a person that their parent’s feel comfortable with– provide personalized assistance, accompaniment and transportation for their loved ones.
At Seniors Solution we assess each patron on an individual basis in order to ensure that we cater appropriately to the specific needs of your loved ones. We are also careful to follow your instructions, especially where your parents may require extra care or attention.
Our goal is to ensure that your parents have a comfortable and stress-free outing. We do this by always making certain that our patrons feel safe, unrushed and know exactly what to expect when a caregiver from Seniors Solution arrives. For example, by consistently arriving on time and bringing patrons to their appointments on time, we eliminate the most common stress factor that worries seniors. This in turn builds trust and confidence.

One last important point: while we are walker and wheelchair friendly, your parent must be able to transfer.

Medical Appointments
Our caregivers provide companion travel for your parents to and from any appointment that they may have. Our caregivers will wait with your parent if you prefer, and if requested, they will sit in during an appointment and take notes so that nothing is overlooked or forgotten. Upon return home, our caregivers ensure that your parents are settled, especially if the appointment was upsetting. Shopping/Errands With or Without Companionship
Our caregiver will drive your parents to the mall, to a particular store(s) or on a special errand. Upon return home, our caregiver will assist with unpacking and putting away any purchases. If you prefer, a caregiver will accompany your parents on shopping trips and provide assistance as required (e.g. navigate a mall, read labels, collect hard-to-reach items, push shopping cart carry bags, etc.). Airport Drop Off and Pick Up
Our caregiver will get your parents to the airport on time and assist them with their luggage and help them to obtain their boarding passes. On a return trip, our caregiver will help them collect their belongings from the baggage carousel, assist with any lost baggage or other inquiries, drive them home and help them with their luggage upon arrival.
Social Events
Our caregiver will accompany your parents to social functions (e.g. to a new exhibit at the National Art Gallery or to the annual Victorian Tea at the Arboretum) and on vacations (e.g. a day cruise on the Thousand Islands or weekend retreat to a health spa). Our caregivers are also available to act as escorts to family functions (e.g. wedding, christening, reunion, religious service). Our escort will ensure not only that your parents arrive on time, but also that any special needs they may have are administered to in a discreet and dignified manner.
Hair Salon, Day Spa and Barber Shop
Our caregiver will drive your parents to the beauty parlour, a day spa or the barbershop and drive them safely home afterward.
Pet Appointments
Our caregiver will escort your parents and their pets to the veterinarian or a grooming service, and provide any required assistance. After returning your parents home, our caregiver will ensure that your parents are settled, especially if the vet appointment was upsetting.
Companionship Walks
Our caregiver will provide companionship for your parents, and any pets, on recreational walks.
Adult Sitting for Sick/Ageing Family
Whether over night or just for a few hours, our caregiver will provide companionship for your parents and assist them while they recover. Our caregiver will drive them to the hospital for day surgery or a longer stay and be there for them when they are discharged. After driving your parents home, our caregiver will make sure that they are comfortable and have everything they need (e.g. food, drink, medication, reading material, etc.).
Daily Telephone-Medication Reminders/Check Ups
Our caregiver will telephone your parents daily to remind them to take their medication, check to see if there is anything that they may need (e.g. food, drink, medication, reading material, etc.), and finally that everything is ok.
Although some Seniors Solution clients prefer a one-off service, most opt for the convenience and economy offered by one of our service packages. Apart from the obvious cost savings, a package can save you a lot of time by:
- eliminating the need for you to arrange each trip or activity separately;
- allowing your parents to keep last minute appointments;
